Shukofukurou 3.4 for macOS Now Released

April 10, 2020 By malupdaterosxdev

After some delay due to being busy with work and the whole coronavirus thing, Shukofukurou 3.4 for macOS is now released. This release mostly contains some fixes and MyAnimeList support, which doesn’t pertain to AniList. Also, local update history is now added. This update will be added to the AppCast for non-App Store release soon. This update is now available for App Store users.

New Features

  • MyAnimeList support restored
  • Added Local Update History

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • Fix bug where parsing of some Kitsu entries or viewing of some title information on Kitsu causes the app to crash.
  • Fix Stream Links retrieval.

April Updates

Now that iOS 13.4 is now out, I want to optimize the app for mouse support Currently, you can’t right click, but instead have to slide to view the additional options. We will be adding additional options for entries in the next minor release.

In addition, we will start work on the list syncing (e.g. syncing list changes between different services). This will replace the import features for AniList and Kitsu, which will be removed in the next release as list syncing will replace it. This feature will allow users to periodically sync changes to other services (e.g. Anilist to Kitsu and/or MyAnimeList).

This feature also allows users to update an entry (only progress and status) on one service and applying it to other services automatically Note that list syncing will only be a donor feature since it requires some API infrastructure with the title id mapping web service and the time to implement it. Hopefully this feature will help save users time if he or she uses multiple services to manage libraries. This feature will initially come to the macOS version first before coming to the iOS/iPadOS version. We will release a test version once it’s ready.

Shukofukurou for macOS 3.4 Beta 2 Released

March 30, 2020 By malupdaterosxdev

The 2nd beta for Shukofukurou for macOS 3.4 is now released, which fixes a few bugs. We will be releasing a stable release of Shukofukurou for macOS soon, so stay tuned for that.

The change log is below. The 2nd beta will be in the AppCast soon, but you can download it here. Like with beta releases, it runs separately from the stable release.

Change log is below.

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • Fixed Manga Search in MyAnimeList
  • Fix Trending Manga for MyAnimeList

Private Lists on MyAnimeList

Private Lists are now fixed in the official MyAnimeList API. There is no need to update the apps to make this work. The lists should now load properly in our apps now even with the privacy settings set to Private. Note that this only applies to your list and you may not be able to see other people’s list through the Profile Browser.

Shukofukurou for iOS 2.0.6 is now Released

March 22, 2020 By malupdaterosxdev

Shukofukurou for iOS 2.0.6 is now available on the App Store. This release fixes two bugs, which includes the manga search functionality not working on MyAnimeList and the progress steppers. You can update to this release of the App Store.

Additionally, we will begin work in 2.1, which will add some refinements. This includes the Airing/Publishing filter as a pseudo status filter on the status filter. This status will not be available for modifying entries. Additionally, I plan to add 3D-Touch actions for the entries as Apple has now added support for trackpad support. It will have the same actions as the swipe cells do.

Hachidori 3.2.2 Released and Updates

March 15, 2020 By malupdaterosxdev

Hachidori 3.2.2 is now released. This release fixes the Funimation history stream detection for Chrome based browsers. Also, this release adds Brave Browser and Opera (no support for sites that require HTML scraping or JavaScript) support for legal stream detection.

New Features

  • Fixed Funimation Watch History stream detection for Chrome-based browsers
  • Added support for Brave Browser and Opera for stream detection. (Opera does not support sites that require HTML scraping or Javascript)

Note for MyAnimeList Users

In Shukofukurou for iOS and macOS, there is currently no support for private lists. Apparently, this is a limitation with the official MAL API right now that we are trying to bring up to Media Do. I know this is stupid since you should be able to view your own list with your credentials, even if it’s private like with Kitsu and AniList with private entries. If you want to use the app, you would need to set the list to public for now. I will let everyone know once Media Do fixes this issue. For now, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Hachidori 3.2.1 Released

March 1, 2020 By malupdaterosxdev

Hachidori 3.2.1 is a minor bug fix release that fixes Edge browser detection and adds the ability to update from the Funimation’s watch history. The watch history is located in your My Account page. This is useful if you watch Funimation from your streaming device or mobile. You can have your browser auto refresh the history page with Auto Scrobble enabled to have your list automatically updated when you are away from your Mac.

New Features

  • Add ability to scrobble from Funimation’s watch history

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • Fixed stream detection from Edge Browser.

Shukofukurou for macOS 3.4 Beta 1 Now Released

February 29, 2020 By malupdaterosxdev

February has been a busy week. While I haven’t made much updates on the main websites, I kept my active Patrons posted as we didn’t have stable internet access until the middle of February. Now, Shukofukurou for macOS 3.4 Beta 1 is now released, which adds the update history, fixes a few bugs and make some changes to the adult content filter, required to meet Apple’s App Store Guidelines. However, non-app store versions can still view adult content and disable the filter by enabling the “Show 18+ Content” option in the settings. The update is uploaded to the Github Repo, but should be added to the Shukofukurou Next Appcast for automatic updates.

The change log is below.

New Features

  • Added Local Update History

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • Stream Links button shouldn’t appear until the data is loaded.
  • Implement content filtering to filter out mature content to comply with Apple’s Guide Lines. Non-App Store version can still view filtered content by enabling Show 18+ Content setting
  • Various fixes

Now I have received some questions regarding Hachidori and I will answer them.

I can’t see the Hachidori Icon, but it’s prompting me to login. Is the app working properly?

Yes. macOS will hide additional icons if you have too many icons on your menubar. This is common when you are using a lower resolution or make the text/UI elements bigger if you have a retina screen Mac. Note that all the functionality happens as a menuitem and you may need to remove some icons on the menubar or close the associated apps. If you can’t do that, I highly suggest using an app called Bartender which allows you to hide menu bar icons to a special area. Note that this is a shareware app and we do not provide support for it.

How do I use Plex detection with shared libraries?

You direct the URL to the plex server you are sharing and login with your Plex credentials. You shouldn’t need special privileges to use the Plex XML API used on a shared server. You may need to enable the “Allow Plugins” permission under Restrictions for the user.

How do I enable MultiScrobble?

You need a donation license to enable this feature or be an active Patron and use a Patron license key. Once you enter a donation key, you can enable this feature under Preferences and select which accounts to use for MultiScrobble. Note that the account needs to be logged in for the services you enable with this feature.

This applies to all apps:

I use AniList and none of the functions works. What gives?

Note that AniList OAuth tokens only last a year with no refresh token. This means you have to log out and log back in. In future versions, we will add a feature that allows you to simply reauthorize your account and prompt you for that. Note that when you reauthorize the account once this feature is implemented, it must be the same account or it will fail.
