MAL Library Prerelease Changelog

MAL Library 3.0-alpha 6 (Released April 16, 2018)

This is a prerelease version and it may have bugs. This version will run independently from the stable version.

This is the sixth prerelease version of MAL Library, which fixes some bugs found and also adds ability to import MAL, AniDB and Kitsu lists into AniList.

This is the last Alpha build and no more features will be added (feature set freeze) as we head to the Beta stage.

For Mac App Store users, you can unlock Pro features (e.g. whoever supported this project by downloading MAL Library from the Mac App Store) during the testing phase for free by going to MAL Library Next > Unlock Pro Features.

Requires macOS Yosemite 10.10 or later.

New Features

  • Add Support for importing MAL XML, AniDB XML and Kitsu anime lists into AniList.

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • Tweaked how Manga types appear
  • Kitsu search results will no longer duplicate itself and properly show 40 search entries
  • Add missing Add Title Popover for Season and Airing views for AniList
  • Improved AniList <> Kitsu and AniList <> MAL Title ID conversion
  • Fix enabling/disabling of login and authorize button.
  • Kitsu logged in username will no longer erase itself when the user logs out of the AniList account
  • Fix crashes when user attempts to load a NSFW title and the application not properly loading the placeholder image.
  • Kitsu User id no longer loads the AniList User id
  • Use existing AniList APIs to retrieve AniList anime library to import
  • Add missing chapters info in title information view
  • Use large poster images for Kitsu in the Title Information view
  • Reset Profile Browser and Character Browser windows when they are closed
  • Close the List Statistics for a profile when the Profile Browser window is closed

Known Issues

  • Character browser still using MyAnimeList data when Kitsu service is used. This is because the Character and Staff APIs are incomplete on Kitsu.
  • This release may use a lot of memory (up to 100mb). I am working on memory optimization in the next few release after the feature set freeze before Beta;
  • MAL Library Safari Extension does not fully work yet. It will work in the Beta
  • Other undiscovered bugs.

This is a prerelease version and it may have bugs. This version will run independently from the stable version.

This is the fifth prerelease version of MAL Library, which fixes some bugs found and also adds AniList support.

For Mac App Store users, you can unlock Pro features (e.g. whoever supported this project by downloading MAL Library from the Mac App Store) during the testing phase for free by going to MAL Library Next > Unlock Pro Features.

New Features

  • Add Support for AniList with most of the features working (List Management, searching, Title Information, Profile Browser, Character Browser)

  • Add Pixiv Encyclopeda (English and Japanese) to the list of sites you can view additional information on a title.

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • Fix crash when a reaction without any user data attempts to load. The reaction is instead skipped.

  • Tweaked No Tile View for Title Information and No Profile Loaded in the Profile Browser

Known Issues

  • Character browser still using MyAnimeList data when Kitsu service is used. This is because the Character and Staff APIs are incomplete on Kitsu.

  • This release may use a lot of memory (up to 100mb). I am working on memory optimization in the next few release after the feature set freeze before Beta;

  • MAL Library Safari Extension does not fully work yet.

  • Importing Lists into AniList is not implemented yet.

MAL Library 3.0-alpha 4 (Released March 21, 2018)

This is a prerelease version and it may have bugs. This version will run independently from the stable version.

This is the fourth prerelease version of MAL Library, which tweaks the edit popover, use existing methods for Kitsu import and implements AniList 2.0 API for list importing. Also, title id conversion is improved.

For Mac App Store users, you can unlock Pro features during the testing phase for free by going to MAL Library Next > Unlock Pro Features.

  • Add Web toolbar icon in Title Information to allow users to view information about the title on different sites (AniDB, Anime News Network, Baka-Updates, Reddit, TVTropes, and Wikipedia)

  • Add Advanced Edit Dialog to allow users to edit list-service specific fields and change reconsuming status

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • Fixed bug where service menu disables when there is no account logged in

  • Fixed logout and login issues with Kitsu and MyAnimeList if the current service is different.

  • Search will now load the first 40 entries for Kitsu

  • Hide History source item from Source List when user is using Kitsu.

Known Issues

  • AniList importing is still using the 1.0 version of the AniList API and needs to use the latest.

  • Kitsu importing is not using existing methods yet (still using redundant code).

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • Improve loading of lists to use sparse fields for Anime metadata to only retrieve the necessary fields and improve loading times.

  • Fix crash when there is no Kitsu username, user id and/or rating system saved to Preferences. They will be retrieved using the stored oAuth token at launch. If the user’s information can’t be found, then automatically log out of Kitsu account.

  • Fix crash when a title id couldn’t be found on the target list service.

  • Fix crash when a user attempts to view a reaction, which a user doesn’t have an avatar. It will show a placeholder image instead.

  • Don’t perform title id lookup if there is one in progress.

  • Disable service menu when a list is being synchronized/refreshed.

  • Show progress wheel indicating that a list is being synchronized/refreshed.

  • Fix the displaying of the total episodes for Anime in Title Information View.

  • Updated AFNetworking framework to 3.2.0

  • Various code improvements.
